چکیده

Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata, Fabaceae) is an annual herbaceous legume cultivated for seed and fodder. During a survey in May 2022, cowpea leaves with leaf spot symptoms were collected from field which c. 40% of the plants diseased (Karaj City, Alborz province, Iran). Leaf spots began as small circular water-soaked lesions at centre margins expanded on occasion, coalesced. The infected tissue became pale brown necrotic. Isolation causal pathogen was performed using high humidity blotter method. After five days, growing fungi transferred fine sterile needle to 2% water agar. Pure cultures obtained hyphal tip method synthetic nutrient-poor agar (SNA) potato carrot culture media. Fungal colonies incubated 25°C 8 hour light/16 dark photoperiod seven days. A typical colony (ALT1) reached 58 mm diameter after days incubation SNA medium. olive-brown centre, white margin. Aerial mycelia sparse. Mycelia septate, smooth–walled. Sporulation abundant SNA, mostly aerial hyphae. Conidiophores arose singly mycelia, brown, erect, simple, short, smooth, frequently reduced conidiogenous cells slight swelling apices, 7–30 × 3–5 μm. Conidiogenous loci 1–3 per cell, brown. Ramoconidia 0–3 ellipsoid cylindrical, 15–32 μm, short beak (n = 50). Conidia subcylindrical, or fusiform, long acropetal chains, simple lateral branches 8–11 3–3.5 μm 50) (Figure 1). Schefflera arboricola is a flowering plant in the family Araliaceae; its common name is dwarf umbrella tree. It is an evergreen shrub and a popular ornamental plant, commonly grown as an indoor plant. During a sampling in 2015, a new leaf spot symptoms was observed on S. arboricola plants in several greenhouses in the Hamadan province, Iran. Most of the plants were se...

Survey of Spilocaea oleagina, causal agent of olive leaf spot, in North of Iran

Olive leaf spot or peacock spot, caused by the fungal pathogen Spilocaea oleagina, can cause reduced growth and yield in olive trees (Olea eurapaea). Investigations were carried out during 20072010 to measure the prevalence and severity of olive leaf spot in the northern olive growing regions of Iran. The susceptibility of ten cultivars (Amygdalifolia, Blaidy, Koronakei, Mary, Manzanillo, Missi...

Genetic Diversity of Pyrenophera tritici-repentis Isolates, the Causal Agent of Wheat Tan Spot Disease from Northern Iran

Background: The tan spot disease of wheat caused by Pyrenophera tritici-repentis has become a major disease in most wheat growing areas worldwide. Objectives: Here we used ISSR and RAPD markers to study the genetic diversity of 34 P. tritici-repentis isolates collected from North of Iran. Materials and Methods: The leaves having the typical symptoms of tan spot disease were collected and after...

Screening Some Medicinal Plant Extracts Against Alternaria sesami, the Causal Agent of Alternaria Leaf Spot of Sesame

Natural plant extracts / products have the potential as safe alternatives for chemical fungicides in plant disease management. Methanol and pure methanol: water (50:50 v/v) extracts of peppermint, lavandula, eucalyptus, datura and nettle were screened for their antifungal activity against Alternaria sesami, the causal agent of Alternaria leaf spot of sesame at 5, 10 and 15% concentrations in Sh...

identification of the causal agent of a leaf spot of primula by dnak and rpod gene sequences in mazandaran

a leaf spot disease caused by strains of xanthomonas in wild primrose (primula vulgaris) were reported in several forest locations of mazandaran (rahimian. 1995. 12th  iran. plant protec. cong. p. 278). based on a genomic study of its area and 16s rrna gene sequencing, it was reported that some isolates causing leaf spot of p. vulgaris probably belong to x. campestris (rahimian et al. 2008. 18t...
